Why the report templates are published blank

See what gets measured, before it is built

Most contractors show you a report after the work is done. By then the only question left is whether you accept it.

Agree the format first

A consultant can read the commissioning record template at design stage and ask for an extra parameter. Adding a column costs nothing; returning to a plant room to take a reading nobody captured costs a visit.

No argument at handover

If the format was published before work began, there is no discussion later about whether something was in scope to record.

Instruments and calibration

Every measured quantity has a row for the instrument used and its calibration date. An uncalibrated reading is an opinion, and we would rather not hand you one.
